As the PC market continues to decline we’ve seen several bigger OEMS expanding beyond Windows laptops and desktops and experimenting with their own Android-powered devices. Two of the bigger brands that come to mind are Dell and HP.
Focusing on the latter of these brands, HP has yet to make much of a dent in the Android world, but they aren’t giving up yet. In fact, it looks as if HP may be gearing up to release as many as four new Android devices in the not-too-distant future. Of the four, three of them are reportedly nothing more than rebranded Huawei devices, at least if newly leaked information from Mobile Geeks proves correct.
On the lowest end of the scale we have the HP Slate 8 Plus, essentially a rebranded MediaPad M1 featuring a 1.6GHz Hisilicon Kirin 910 quad-core CPU, 1GB RAM, an 8-inch 1280×800 display, Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11n Wi-Fi, an aluminum body,16GB storage and microSD for expansion.
Next up we have the HP Slate 10 Plus, powered by a HiSilicon quad-core CPU and 1GB of RAM. Other specs include a 10.1-inch display with a 1280×800 resolution, 16GB storage, microSD, Wi-Fi, Blueooth, optional LTE, a 3MP rear cam, a .3MP front-cam, and a 23.24 Whr battery. Reportedly this model is a rebranded Huawei MediaPad 10 Link+.
The third Huawei-rebranded model is the HP 10 Plus, though it’s unclear what Huawei model this one is based on. Like the Slate 10 Plus, this model has a 10-inch display, albeit with a better resolution of 1920×1200. Overall this model seems to be the highest-end offering of the three, with a quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 CPU, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, 5MP rear cam, 2MP front cam, a 7700 mAh battery and Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.
All three of these tablets are said to be launching within the next few months, though exact release dates and pricing are currently unknown.

The wild card: HP Red
Unlike the other three, the fourth device has yet to leak with an official product name, and the only evidence of it is in a recent GFXBench listing. We also imagine that this device is more than just rebranded hardware.
As for what it brings to the table? The HP Red reportedly has a 2.3Ghz Snapdragon 800 CPU, 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. It’s front camera is said to be 2MP, with the rear packing an 8MP camera. All in all, sounds like a pretty capable device, but nothing too out of the ordinary — at least until you realize that the HP Red packs a 16-inch display with a resolution of 2048×1536.
With such a large display, what exactly is the device? Considering the existence of the HP Slate 21 AIO, our first guess would have been another all-in-one, but the presence of an accelerometer, barometer, compass, NFC, pedometer, proximity sensor and GPS seem to throw this idea out the window. Providing GFXBench’s information is accurate, it’s much more likely that HP Red is either a large-screen Android tablet, laptop or a hybrid or sorts. Keep in mind that the HP Red could still be a long ways away from reaching commercial status, that is, if the listing is legit and HP is really planning on releasing it.
