Two months ago, HP officially brought the world the SlateBook x2, an Android-powered detachable tablet PC that can be used with a keyboard dock priced at only $479.99. And now, the company has officially launched the said product in its own US web site.
The HP SlateBook x2 is currently scheduled for a release in August 2013, which means that it could be made available in stores as soon as next week. Not only is it attractive to consumer price-wise, it’s also quite a beast when it comes to specs.
For instance, the HP SlateBook x2 rocks the NVIDIA Tegra 4 SoC, which has a quad-core CPU. And it also has other halfway decent features like a 10.1-inch Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) IPS touchscreen display, 16GB of SATA solid state storage, and DTS Sound+ Solution audio.
The default OS on the HP SlateBook x2 is Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, which means it can pretty much go head to head with other new Android-powered tablets on the market today. And it should be able to do that with ease, considering it gains a second, entirely separate rechargeable battery when it is used with the keyboard dock accessory.
When it goes on sale, the HP SlateBook x2 will be available in two color options: smoke silver and snow white. Either of which, as mentioned above, will cost just under $480.
